Suitable equipment for your fleet
One of the most challenging aspects of fleet management is providing the right vehicle for every transport job. After all, there are a wide range of options for glass processors and window manufacturers – including total permissible weights of 2.9 to 26 tonnes, exterior or interior racks, a tool cabinet system, or a sliding bracket cover. Read on to find out what’s possible and which glass-industry attachments can increase your day-to-day flexibility.

A universal solution: the van
Our exterior rack is part of the standard logistics equipment when it comes to glass, windows and structural elements. This can be found on our classic box vans, ranging from 2.9 to 5.5 tonnes in total permissible weight and offering a universal solution for a wide variety of transport jobs. The load can be positioned at body height, avoiding back strain. Thanks to padded, height-adjustable tie rods, the load can be safely and professionally secured in just a few quick steps. If additional safety is required, lashing rails are built into the rack to allow the use of lashing straps. “This equipment makes our glass-industry vans well-suited for rapid installations, special panes or small delivery quantities,” says Marc-Alexander Stachel, Managing Director of HEGLA Fahrzeugbau. “Additional conversions can further increase their functionality.”
Protected interior
An interior rack creates an additional loading position that provides added value and is protected against weather and damage from stones. It can be used to secure high-quality goods and sensitive surfaces safely and deliver them to the customer undamaged. If you regularly need to transport multiple windows and structural elements, the fold-out variant is a good option. If necessary, this enables you to use almost the entire width of the vehicle as storage, while the rack provides additional space. Hole patterns in the floor and roof provide options for even more rack positions and greater flexibility. Padded slat bars can be inserted into these to secure the load. Marc-Alexander Stachel also recommends installing a tool cabinet system. “You only get one chance to make a good first impression on site,” the vehicle construction expert believes. “This way, the van stays organised and the assembly materials remain easy to access even after a changeover of teams.”
Trucks for the biggest jobs
For heavy, bulky or unwieldy jobs, trucks with 7.5 to 26 tonnes of total permissible weight are used. These vehicles are ideal for use in distribution transport, for oversized formats, or when a large number of panes needs to be installed directly at the customer’s site. The way the transport equipment is attached depends on the chassis provided by the truck’s manufacturer. In the first step, the truck is fitted with a precisely tailored HEGLA low bed, which allows a higher load than comparable standard attachments with a low-frame chassis. The custom truck bed is reinforced and can be painted in a colour of your choice. To make securing loads easier, a special C-rail is countersunk into the truck bed. This contains manual clamping shoes to secure the load. As a user-friendly, time-saving new feature, HEGLA Fahrzeugbau offers an automatic frame lock. This locks the entire load onto the flatbed at the touch of a button (e.g. on the remote control for the crane) without the need for the driver to climb up onto the back of the truck.
Crane for added flexibility
Whether you need more flexibility when loading and unloading or for installation work on site – a loading crane expands the functionality of your truck. For this purpose, HEGLA Fahrzeugbau recommends the attachment featuring a Palfinger crane. “With its soft extension and vibration dampers, it offers the delicacy needed to handle glass without breaking anything,” explains Marc-Alexander Stachel.
Exterior rack for easy access
Panes, windows and large structural elements can be transported vertically without a frame on an optional exterior rack. The load can easily be positioned within the operator’s direct field of vision. Meanwhile, the flatbed remains available for other transport tasks. The exterior rack automatically tips up or down for loading and unloading, and can be compactly secured in the vertical plane during transport.
Added convenience: from tarpaulins to rain covers
For increased protection of the load, HEGLA Fahrzeugbau offers various optional equipment, including a splash-guard tarpaulin, a full slide-over tarpaulin, C-rail profiles, and sliding bracket covers. The tarpaulins and covers can be printed with lettering or a digital-print design at the customer’s request. “Printing on the side walls and driver cab boost’s the vehicle’s advertising impact,” adds Marc-Alexander Stachel.
The attachment can be installed as a complete solution at one of HEGLA’s three locations, including TÜV inspection, so that the van or truck is ready for use by the customer immediately on handover.
The load can be positioned externally to avoid unnecessary back strain, and is secured using height-adjustable padded slat bars.
A tool cabinet system keeps everything neat and tidy, and makes a good impression on the customer. Another practical feature is the interior rack, which is folded up when transporting windows or structural elements.
With a crane, low bed and automatic frame lock, the truck is optimally equipped for large quantities and oversized goods.
